We are eager to convene you to a public conversation with Molemo Moiloa, initiator of the 𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚. Joining us online, Molemo will share reflections moving from one of her latest collaborative research projects, Common Life.

𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 is an experiment in thinking together. It is an opportunity to explore and test strategies for artistic practice that are deeply tethered to the places from which they have emerged, and to seeking ways of living together, in common. From case studies in the project from around the African continent, we learn about strategies for making better life in integrated ways that think and act through artistic practice.

Molemo Moiloa lives and works in Johannesburg, and has worked in various capacities at the intersection of creative practice and community organizing. She currently works on notions of ungovernability, social infrastructures of cultural organizing, and relationships to nature. She is one half of the artist collaborative MADEYOULOOK, who explore everyday popular imaginaries and their modalities for knowledge production. Molemo also co-leads the Open Restitution Africa project, an Africa-focused research platform for restitution of African heritage, as well as the ungovernable, an experiment in communitary practice and ungovernability.

This talk is part of the cycle COLLECTIVE MAKING developed by 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨, an alliance composed by Dar Bellarj Foundation, LE 18 and Mahal Art Space, as well as a learning platform and training programme conceived by Nouha Ben Yebdri, Francesca Masoero and Rim Mejdi. Undercurrents is a program developed in the framework of All-Around Culture. The Cultural Alliances program is implemented by Culture Resource and co-funded by the European Union.
